A WPT Championship Reunion Print E-mail

A WPT Championship Reunion

May 28, 2008 Sunday saw the players and friends from the recent WPT Championships trip getting a chance to catch up again online in a private reunion tournament held at PokerRoom. With players checking in from Austria, Canada, Italy, and Sweden, it truly was an international affair and a great chance to catch up and play some cards.

While the action was definitely friendly, there was more than a little incentive to play well, with a $500 + $40 tournament ticket going to the winner, a $50 + $4 ticket to 2nd place, and bounties for whoever knocked out blair fitz and Team PR Mgr.

Team PR Mgr. had one of his best showings in these reunion tournaments; while he was knocked out first when blair fitz rivered a full house with pocket dueces to take down Team PR Mgr’s pocket tens, he did last for nearly 15 minutes in the tournament this time. Well done!

Guzz06 was the next to get bounced out when his pocket jacks ran into monze1’s pocket rockets, with Guzz06 finishing in 8th.

blair fitz was knocked out in 7th when his Jd 8d found itself up against monze1’s Ac 8c, and an 8 high flop proved too tempting for blair fitz to get away from his hand. monze1 collected blair fitz’s bounty and took a big lead over the field with nearly 4 times the chips of his nearest competitor.

scarfACEACE1 was the next to leave, exiting in 6th when littletasty flopped a full house with A Q on a flop of Ad Ah Qc and had an easy call when scarfACEACE1 shoved on the flop with Qh 5d.

gabrielsan69 hit the rails in 5th and –NUTS6020- would follow in 4th, knocked out by his buddy monze1 when monze1 flopped a set with pocket sevens to take down -NUTS6020-'s top pair, top kicker. monze1’s monster stack just got bigger when he eliminated littletasty in 3rd, with his Qd 10c holding up against her 6c 2c.

The end was a bit anti-climactic, as whassup x and monze1 were heads-up but whassup x had been sitting out for the last few minutes of action, and wasn’t able to play his stack at the end. He was quickly blinded off and monze1 was the winner, taking down the $500 + $40 ticket for 1st with whassup x collecting the $50 + $40 ticket for 2nd.

Congrats to the winners and thanks to everyone that showed up for a fun afternoon of playing cards and catching up with newfound friends.

PokerTime is Going Private Print E-mail

From May 15, 2008, PokerTime will start to go private, with the aim of becoming a completely private Poker Room in the near future. However, they will continue to use Microgaming’s tried-and-trusted software as they believe that it is the very best available.

Initially, PokerTime will begin by moving all of their Texas Hold’Em tables with stakes of $1/$2 and below onto a private network. At this point, nothing will change with regards to their high-stakes tables.

PokerTime strongly believes that this move will enable them to provide a better lifetime value to their players by offering exclusive promotions, such as bigger bonuses and private high-stakes tournaments.

As a starting point, PokerTime will be launching an exhilarating Turbo Bonus, which gives their players the chance to score up to $1,000 free from their first deposit. Plus, new players will still get $10 free when they register.
